A wonderfully successful and enjoyable Rotary Bowls Day at the Perth Bowling & Recreation Club on Sunday 12th October 2025.
Bowls Day 2025
This year’s bowls day fundraiser was held at the Perth Bowling & Recreation Club and organised by Ray Findley With the wet weather we have in Perth this winter the bowling greens were under pressure. We therefore had a barefoot bowls event using one green for the 90 bowlers who registered for this very popular event. This ended up being a positive as bowlers had more time to chat and socialise between ends.
The staff at the club were very helpful and supportive and made sure that the drinks were flowing; with tea and coffee provided by Rotary Club Osborne Park, our bowlers were kept well hydrated. The lunch was provided by Spit Roast caterers.
The raffle organised by Mike Clark with donations from a wide variety of people was well received and many raffle tickets were sold. Our newest member, Wayne Adams, was hard at work selling tickets and making up additional raffle ticket bundles. In addition to the raffle, we had a number of auction items including Bunnings vouchers (donated by Bunnings Innaloo) and wine donated by Ray Findley.
Ray’ s family stepped up once again bringing 9 teams to the bowls and providing a large chocolate cake to celebrate his birthday.
The beneficiaries of the Bowls Day fundraiser were GrandCarers WA and Thriive. WA. Their staff and members had a great day and joined in the festivities and camaraderie.
Loryn Cumings of GrandCarers WA said “We had such a wonderful time at the recent Lawn Bowls event. It was an amazing day out for all of us, and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment. We would like to extend our sincere thank you for your generous donations. Funds raised will go towards our Christmas appeal, helping us provide special gifts for the grandchildren in our members’ care. Your kindness and support will go a long way in making this Christmas a little brighter for many families. Thank you once again to everyone involved.”
Laura Thorneloe, Manager, Marketing and Events, Thriive WA, formerly Edmund Rice Camps for Kids WA said “The generous donation from the Lawn Bowls charity day will be used to purchase Rashies (sun blocking T shirts) for our kids and leaders for this summer. Supported by Blaydon WA, who have offered us a discount, we will be able to ensure all of the kids are sun safe this summer on camp. It was such a great day! Thank you for having us and for choosing Thriive as one of the two beneficiaries, we are very grateful!”
We raised over $4,000 on the day, had a wonderful time meeting and greeting friends old and new and making a difference in our community. Thank you to all the organisers, participants and support teams.
